The Hidden Below Demo version 3D Action Adventure DOS (4MB RAM) Soft Enterprises, Germany Full version ? Id's Doom triggered a wave of 3D games, on which The Hidden Below tries to ride along. All the main game elements like different weapons, nasty monsters, and huge labyrinths are included. And the sight and movement possibilities are expanded by the addition of infrared and nightvision, crouching, and looking up and down. You can modify the image size and resolution to best suit your computer. So it really has all the elements that make up a good game. That said, playability needs to be considered as well. The graphics for the 3D environment move at a pace that can only be described as leisurely (in the full version a 15-20% faster 3D engine is promised). In addition, the monsters don't look too scary, but instead seem to be escapees from the Muppet Show. Also the design could have used some more finesse, as it seems a bit messy. If you're an absolute fan of 3D games and are bored of everything else on your computer, you may be able to get something out of this game, though we've seen it all done before and also better. Or if, for example, one has just gotten angry at their boss or teacher, it can be fun to creep with gun in hand through the dark corridors of the space station in which this game is set.
